In a typical display of British eccentricity, thousands of people made their way to Maldon on the East coast of England on New Years Eve for the town’s annual mud race – a cross between a fun run and an assault course from hell. One hundred and eighty runners braved the elements to stampede across the Blackwater River waist deep in thick black mud.The date of the annual race is dependent on tidal conditions.
